After Kathy and I left Magnolia Market in Waco with my head in the clouds, we were headed to Dallas for the Home and Gift show. For those of you who haven’t been there before, let me just say it’s not for the faint of heart. To get things done and to see most of what you want to see you will do lots of walking. Tomorrow I will share pictures of different vignettes and products that we saw. But today I want to share some of the great connections I made at Market.
First let me introduce you to the mother and daughter team at Robeson Design. They are a family run business. Mother, Sharon is Designer and CEO, her daughter Sharrah is director of marketing and P.R. and Sharon’s son Scott is director of Business and Finance. I found their design blog awhile back and subscribed to it and their youtube channel. They video design jobs and diy projects that they’ve completed. I love them because they are funny and down to earth.
Today at Market they were sharing information about marketing your business with social media. Most things I’ve heard before but they made me think of some things that I had not thought of before.
They also talked about when they started doing videos and uploading them to their youtube channel. This was a game changer for them. Their business took off from there. Sharon said to just get started. Don’t worry about being perfect! Just get going. As you do the videos and your business grows you can invest more into better video equipment or someone to take the videos.
I’m so glad I got to meet them in person after following their work for so long.
Another fabulous person that I got to reconnect with is Jo Packham. She is the creator/Editor-in-Chief of WHERE WOMEN CREATE, WHERE WOMEN COOK, and WHERE WOMEN CREATE BUSINESS. This woman is my idol. She has accomplished so much in her lifetime and is still working hard, being creative and still accomplishing many things at the same time. I had the opportunity to meet her here in Franklin. She was kind enough to fly down to Louisiana and come to my mother-in-law’s home for her Fortnightly meeting. Jo gave a talk about her businesses and about what she was working on at the time that night. I just sat there and absorbed everything she was saying. Back then we talked about collaborating on a project in the future. Seeing her again has really lit a fire in me. I’m just waiting for the right project and the right time. It was so good to see her. What an amazing woman she is!!
