Vacation season will soon be here. Today I’m sharing my photography gear that I use when traveling!
I used to shoot with Nikon and I loved it but when traveling, I want my photography gear to be lighter and not so bulky. I researched the full frame mirrorless cameras and settled on the Sony A7RII. I love this camera. First off it’s way smarter than me and works extremely well in the automatic setting. When I’m on a trip and walking around I don’t shoot in manual mode unless it’s really bright or really dark. Then I may adjust the settings but most of the time you don’t have to with this camera. If you do shoot in Manual Mode you can look at the screen on the back of the camera and you can watch the difference in the frame as you adjust your settings. This makes it so easy to shoot in manual mode in my opinion.
My go to lens is the Sony 24-240 3.5-6.3. When traveling I usually keep this lens on the whole time. I don’t want to worry about changing lens or carrying more than one lens.
When I’m needing a wide angle lens like taking pictures at The Grand Canyon or taking pictures of a room and want to get the whole room in the shot I use this lens. It’s the Sony FE4/ 12-24 mm
If I’m taking portraits or want a nice bokeh in the background I used the Sony FE 50mm 1.8.
This is my favorite camera case. It holds my camera with one of these lenses attached and I can also fit one extra lens. It’s the Bagsmart Compact Camera Shoulder Bag for SLR/DSLR with waterproof rain cover in grey. It’s waterproof, lightweight and has a strap on the back that will fit on the handle of your suitcase which is great for running around airports. It also doubles as my purse so I don’t have to carry anything extra.
For editing my go to is Lightroom. I can do almost everything in Lightroom. If I need to make changes to the image, remove something or want to get more creative I then edit in Photoshop. To use Lightroom and Photoshop you can subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud. You can subscribe here for around $10.00 per month.
If I want the hdr (high dynamic range) effect I use Photomatix Pro.
I hope this helps you make decisions when looking to buy new camera gear.
