I’ve always wanted to take a trip up the East Coast. So in July of 2017 we did just that. Avery and Bryant came along on my adventure. We flew into Boston rented a car and drove to Dennis Port, Massachusetts. We stayed overnight in a hotel, got up early and caught a ferry to Nantucket for the day. Here are pictures from our Day Trip To Nantucket.
We took so many pictures but you would be reading this for hours so here are the highlights of the day.
We rode The Grey Lady IV in and took it back that evening. It took about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get there both ways. We only hit a rough patch for about 20 minutes, the rest of the time it was great!
We are almost there!
So many boats! My husband and his family build crew boats so he was in Heaven. He could live on the water.
This is the harbor as you pull into the dock.
Those are luggage carts for the people who are traveling back.
This is what you see when you are pulling into the harbor. The Brant Point Lighthouse. I was so excited to see it! One of the main reasons I wanted to visit the East Coast was for the lighthouses.
Almost every restaurant here has fresh lobster. There are many restaurants to chose from in Nantucket.
We found The Nantucket Regional Transit Authority. It was in walking distance of the dock where we got off the ferry. We rode the Wave, it’s the bus system that takes you all over the island. After reading about Nantucket and only having the one day there we decided to go towards Siasconset.
It’s on one end of the island. In my opinion the most beautiful! The bus drops you off and you start walking. We wanted to walk the Sconset Bluff Walk. At the end of the path is the Sankaty Lighthouse. Did I mention I love lighthouses??
The houses looked like they belonged in a story book. The flowers were beautiful!
Isn’t it just beautiful?
You know I had to!
This is just a taste of how the streets look in downtown Nantucket.
And another harbor. I took this picture while I was upstairs at the Whaling Museum. A must see when you go.
I took this shot as we were leaving Nantucket.
We were sad to leave but I knew I’d be back. In fact I went back in September of 2018 to celebrate my 55th birthday with some girlfriends. I will share that trip with you later here on the blog.
Thanks for visiting Nantucket with me. It’s one of my favorites!
