I found this piece at Pinhook Flea Market in Lafayette. I love the size and shape of it. I knew it would be perfect for a small space in a kitchen, a bathroom or dorm room.
It’s solid wood and stained the orangish oak color that was popular back in the day. I knew I wanted to give it a Farmhouse vibe so I got to work.
I have listed the items used. Most were Dixie Belle paint products. You can find these at Rooster’s Antique and Furniture Store in Lafayette, The French Door in Franklin or you can order online through Amazon using my affiliate links.
First thing I did was clean it really good. You can use Dixie Belle White Lightning Cleaner-https://amzn.to/2mEotQo.
I love this little pull out shelf.
I knew I didn’t want to paint the top or the pull out shelf but I wanted to darken the stain color.
I first painted the whole piece (2 solid coats) except for the top and the pullout shelf with Dixie Bell Mason Dixon Gray – https://amzn.to/2mJ5yUI
After that dried, I dry brushed Dixie Belle Cotton – https://amzn.to/2lcz8S6
To seal it I used Dixie Belle Satin Clear Coat – https://amzn.to/2mBMzLB
If you have a piece that is stained a color you don’t love and you really don’t want to paint it, you can use General Finishes Gel Stain. My favorite is Antique Walnut. That’s what I used here. I brushed it on very lightly, not heavy. Two light coats. Let it cure for two days. Click here to find it on Amazon. https://amzn.to/2mfTJ8b
Here is the finished piece!
