Today is the day!! It’s finally time to reveal our Modern French Country kitchen. You have waited patiently long enough.
I took ideas from our home in Franklin and used them when designing this new kitchen. It’s different in many ways but in some ways the same.
Ok, are you ready? There are before and after pictures so be sure to take your time. I will be sharing more about the sources in up coming posts. If you have a question about anything before those posts go live, please leave me comment and I will get back to you.
This was at the point when we were adding solid sheeting to the walls. This was something Bryant wanted to make sure we got done. It’s an added layer of insulation for the home and when nailing something into the wall you don’t have to worry about it.
Here is when we started adding the sheetrock.
Mudding the sheetrock.
And then the fun begins. Trim started going in. We chose to go with simple moldings and baseboards. Trim can be done many ways, but for us, simple lines for this house.
A lot of steps went in from here but I won’t bore you with those details.
Here is the finished kitchen!
I chose 2cm Calacatta Extra Marble. I was advised against Marble time after time from all of the Countertop vendors. But I chose it anyway. Look it’s been used in Europe since the beginning of time and it’s beautiful. Will it stain? I’m sure it can. Will it etch yes I know it will. But it doesn’t matter to me, I still love it and don’t regret choosing it.
Our builder recommended a custom sheet metal shop to build our hood. I showed Kevin the owner some pictures, he drew it to scale and viola! It’s perfect!
On this side of the kitchen is the double ovens, the warming drawer and microwave.
On this side are the refrigerator, freezer and coffee station.
We are just so happy with the way it all tuned out!
It’s been fun cooking and spending time with family and friends!
